Medical school admission requirements vary from school to school. In general, most medical schools will expect applicants to have taken the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), and to have completed the following types of courses:

  • One year of biology
  • One year of physics
  • One year of english
  • Two years of chemistry (through organic chemistry)

The American Medical Association recommends a BS or BA college degree; usually with a strong emphasis on basic sciences, such as biology, chemistry and physics. Some students may enter medical school with other areas of emphasis.

While it is necessary to complete the relevant coursework in science, you may choose to major in almost any subject; as long as you complete the requirements specified by the medical school of your choice.

Possible Courses of Study while fulfilling Pre-Medical Requirements:

Pre-Med Adviscors

Biology Track: Dr. Nick Despo
Chemistry Track: Dr. Chris Stanisky
