Phillip Greenwood, Ph.D. ’69

Dr. Greenwood

October 10, 2019

On Oct 10, Phillip Greenwood, Ph.D. ’69, a marriage and family therapist in Lynchburg, Va., spoke at the Health Professions Institute’s seminar series.

“When asked ‘What would you tell your college self?’ Dr. Greenwood answered by saying to not be so hard on himself, and that he doesn’t have to be so perfect. I really took this to heart.  I think that his story was very beautiful and showed that you can reach your dreams even when life throws a curve.”—Matthew Hess ’20

“His life went in a different direction than he originally thought, and he had to make some big life decisions when he was younger. This resonated with me as my first year at Thiel…I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. I am pursuing a second degree in counseling psychology as I was originally interested in psychology before neuroscience. If for some reason, I find that I no longer want to work in the physical health field, I think working in the mental health field would also be a good health career for me.”—Julia Wagner ’21

“I find the topic of what Dr. Greenwood does for a living very paramount and essential for a healthy lifestyle. I firmly believe that in order for someone, in particular, a child, to have a greater chance to grow up to live a happy, successful life, then he or she must live in a healthy family environment…  That is why I firmly and adamantly believe that what Dr. Greenwood tries to fix for a living is very critical for healthy lifestyles for people.”—Zachary Lyons ’22
