MBA Program Goals

Through the MBA program, students strive to:

  1. Develop close, long-term relationships with our business faculty.
  2. Enjoy a highly individualized experiential learning experience that includes intensive project-based coursework.
  3. Receive a graduate assistantship to work on campus or in businesses.
  4. Work on team projects in cohorts that build long term relationships.
  5. Choose a business major pathway or one that allows you to choose almost any major for your bachelor’s degree.

Student Learning Outcomes

The MBA program focuses on the idea of measuring performance with a balanced scorecard that includes both shareholder and other stakeholder perspectives. Students learn to construct business metrics that include traditional measures of financial and operational achievement coupled with nontraditional measures that incorporate ethics, corporate social responsibility, and sustainability.

Upon completion of the MBA program, you will be able to:

  • Identify, assess and resolve ethical dilemmas in dynamic business environments.
  • Employ entrepreneurial thinking to create innovative new ways of achieving objectives.
  • Use the balanced scorecard approach in solving complex business problems. Think critically to evaluate a situation, identify the problem, collect, manage and analyze data, generate and weigh alternatives to select executable and sustainable solutions that satisfy multiple stakeholders.
  • Present business knowledge and decisions individually and as a team in both oral and written formats.
  • Effectively lead and motivate individuals and teams to achieve business objectives.

Experiential Learning

Many MBA programs require work experience before you are admitted. By design, the Thiel MBA ensures that you finish with relevant management experience that students leverage in the next stage of their careers.

Students enrolled in the MBA program at Thiel College have multiple experiential learning opportunities. Every student will complete 400 hours of career focused work as a graduate assistant. As part of the required coursework, each student will work in a paid internship for a private sector business for a minimum of 120 hours and participate in student consultant teams advising a non-profit organization.
