GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Farrell High School senior Gary Satterwhite III, of Farrell, Pa., was awarded an academic scholarship worth $130,560 to Thiel College during a surprise presentation on Tuesday, Dec. 15 at the eCenter@LindenPointe in Hermitage, Pa.
Satterwhite is Farrell High School’s valedictorian and one of five winners for 2020 from among a field of 140 applicants. He joins Farrell High School classmate Brice Butler; Hannah Stoughton, a senior from Apollo-Ridge High School (Apollo, Pa.); Seneca Valley High School seniors Anna Paul, of Zelienople, Pa., and Sarahy Lopez, of Cranberry, Pa.
“It is a great privilege to be chosen as a Thiel College scholarship winner,” Satterwhite said. “I was thrilled to learn of my selection for this honor, and I truly appreciate it. Thank you (to Thiel College) for your generosity and for investing in my future.”
He is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Club and yearbook staff. He is class president and a member of the football, basketball and volleyball teams. Satterwhite plans to play football at Thiel College.
He is the son of Amber and Gary Satterwhite, of Farrell, Pa.
