GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Field High School senior Soren Hottensmith, of Kent, Ohio, was awarded an academic scholarship worth $133,000 to Thiel College during a surprise presentation at the school on Tuesday, Dec. 17.

Hottensmith was one of five winners for 2019. The scholarship was granted on the basis of his performance at scholarship competition at Thiel College that was attended by 150 students and his academic and civic accomplishments.

“We are excited to have Soren join the Thiel College family. Every year we get to meet some amazing students! They all have worked hard to get to where they are and deserve the scholarship,”  Ashley Josay Zullo, vice president for enrollment management, said. “Soren has so much to offer our community and will join fellow Tomcats in shaping the future of our region and beyond.”

He is the son of Jamie and Baron Hottensmith, of Kent, Ohio.

This is the third year for the presentation ceremony.
