GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College is returning to its Common Hour series for the 2021—2022 academic year highlighted by the Class of 2025 Opening Convocation at 11 a.m. Aug. 26 in the William A. Passavant Memorial Center.
The College created the Common Hour in 2018 to give students the opportunity to unwind from the school day while focusing weekly on varying academic topics. Invited speakers who are experts in their fields present to campus community members.
Highlighted events include:
“The Common Hour creates space for students to engage in important educational, social, and cultural programming with members of the faculty and staff outside of the normal classroom or office setting,” Vice President for Student Life & Dean of Students Mike McKinney ’02 said. “It helps build community and provide opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to connect with individuals who they may not otherwise interact with on a regular basis. At Thiel, we are committed to providing students with opportunities to explore interests, issues, and experiences, and the Common Hour is one outlet for accomplishing that.”
The College did host in-person classes throughout the 2020–2021 academic year, but as an extra precaution, Common Hour did not take place.
