GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College alumna and television sports journalist Danielle Dwyer ’11 has been nominated for a Heartland Emmy award.
Dwyer, a 2011 graduate of Thiel College, was nominated based on her work in television sports journalism at KOKH Fox 25 in Oklahoma, City, Okla. During her time at Thiel, Dwyer was a part of both the volleyball and softball teams. The Heartland Emmy Awards are a division of the National Academy of Television Arts and Science. They award excellence in all areas of media and television Dwyer was nominated for this award for her story on Avery Clark, who is a high school senior, and her fight with cancer to get back to doing what she loves, playing softball.
“(I am) beyond blessed to receive a Heartland Emmy nomination,” Dwyer said. “Avery is a depiction of strength, courage, and an inspiration to all.”
The Heartland Emmy Award will be presented via live stream on July 17. The Heartland Emmy Award chapter covers Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and Colorado. This is Dwyer’s third Emmy nomination. She has also won the Edward R. Murrow Award.
