GREENVILLE, Pa.—The Thiel Players will perform a production of William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” on Nov. 18-20 in the Thiel College William A. Robinson Theater.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18-19 and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20. The production is free and open to the public. Advanced reservations for the performance are recommended but not required. The William A. Robinson Theater is located behind the William A. Passavant Memorial Center on campus.
“We chose Macbeth because it was a play that has never been done at Thiel and to highlight combat sequences on stage.” Director and Assistant Professor of Performing Arts, Pete Rydberg, Ph.D. said. “Since Macbeth is a staple story in high school English courses, we felt that the audience would be drawn to the production based on prior experience.”
As a result of funding through the successful Thiel 2016 Campaign, the theater received an overhaul of its seating. The installation of more than 200 new seats was completed last week.
The Thiel Players have provided free theater for the campus and community for five decades. They choose productions on a three-year rotation. Over the course of six semesters, students have the opportunity to work on a Classical piece, a period-language piece, an early modernist piece, an English language classic, a contemporary play, a musical and a production for young audiences.
