GREENVILLE, Pa.-- The Thiel College Office of Admission has exceeded its enrollment goal for the Class of 2022 and topped last year’s new student population by 19 percent with the recent confirmation that 280 new students enrolled at the leading independent, residential four-year college in northwest Pennsylvania.

Thiel College’s new student class includes first-year, transfer and international students. International students from South Korea and Pakistan join new students from 10 states. Three percent of the new class includes twins. Four separate sets of twins began this fall at Thiel. Eleven percent of the new students enrolled in new programs in exercise science, health systems and sports management. The College’s newest major in environmental safety management is already drawing interest with students applying for entry into the program for fall 2019.

“Thiel College remains an extremely attractive choice, especially for eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania students. The combination of our new programs and existing majors trains our graduates to be prepared for a high-paying, fulfilling positions in our region,” Thiel College Vice President for Enrollment Management Ashley Josay Zullo said. “These figures are also a testament to efforts from College staff and faculty members to ensure that a Thiel education continues to be affordable, accessible, relevant and very well positioned to prepare students for a lifetime of success.”

New this year and part of the College’s first-year experience program was a food drive led by first-year students, their peer mentors and faculty and staff members. The food drive collected 1.5 tons of food that was donated to the Greenville Good Shepherd. During the College’s Welcome Week students dropped bags off at area homes throughout the Greenville community with a list of suggested non-perishable items for the collection. Students returned a couple days later to collect the filled bags. The students sorted the food then delivered it to the Good Shepherd Food Pantry in Greenville.
