GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College fraternity Kappa Sigma is collecting signatures from the campus community for a “Thank You” card they will present to the Greenville, Pa. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3374 on Wednesday.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the fraternity had collected more than 100 signatures. The signature-gathering event will continue until noon Wednesday.
Members of the fraternity are also planning on putting out small flags across campus in recognition of Veterans Day.
Charitable service is an important part of the mission of each fraternity and sorority at Thiel College. Annually, Greek fundraising efforts donate thousands of dollars to charities such as the American Red Cross, Autism Speaks, the Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital, Adopt-A-Highway and many others. Kappa Sigma’s philanthropic mission is the Military Heroes Campaign.
Kappa Sigma established A Greater Cause Foundation to support the charitable endeavors of the undergraduate chapters of the fraternity. The foundation’s principal program is the Military Heroes Campaign.
Created in 2007, the campaign honors and aids thousands of military veterans and their families in communities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Since its inception, the campaign has donated nearly $500,000 to non-profit organizations who advocate on behalf of servicemen and women and those wounded in combat.
