GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Associate Professor of Neuroscience and Department Chair Greg Butcher, Ph.D., has been appointed as associate academic dean for student success at Thiel College, a leading liberal arts college in northwest Pennsylvania.
“I am happy and very pleased that Dr. Greg Butcher has joined Academic Affairs,” Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College Elizabeth Frombgen, Ph.D., said. “His work will focus on the needs of students, faculty and staff to advance student success at Thiel. Foremost among his duties and responsibilities will be serving as the primary contact in Academic Affairs for all student academic issues.”
In addition to his teaching responsibilities at Thiel College, Butcher has been director of the Health Professions Institute at Thiel and worked with undergraduates conducting research as part of the GNC Student/Faculty Research Institute. He will continue to serve the Health Professions Institute director and as chair of the Department of Neuroscience for the next academic year.
“I’m excited to transition into this new role and look forward to working with my colleagues to connect students with existing resources and develop new ones,” Butcher said.
Butcher earned dual Bachelor’s of Science degrees in psychology and zoology from the University of Wyoming, and his doctorate in neuroscience from The Ohio State University. His graduate training focused on molecular neurobiology, but his research into biological rhythms employed both molecular and behaviors techniques.
