GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College announces its new Ella Busch scholarship for incoming fall 2020 first-year students, who could be eligible for up to $8,000 through the scholarship.
“Thiel College continues to look for ways to strengthen its connection to our Region,” Vice President for Enrollment Management Ashley Josay Zullo said. “The life of Ella Busch is a perfect example of how enriching the opportunities for local residents sends ripples that continue for generations. Ella had an immeasurable impact on students while she worked at Thiel. Now, that legacy will continue with this scholarship for students from select Mercer County high schools.”
To be eligible, students must be a resident of Mercer County, have at least a 3.0 high school grade-point average, have been accepted by Thiel College and attend one of the following schools:
Busch started working at Thiel College in 1946 as a receptionist, then worked as the assistant controller in the business office and as a personnel officer. From 1979 until her retirement in 1983, she served as the assistant to the president. In recognition of her service to the College, she was named an honorary alumna of Thiel College in 1987. She passed away in December 2017.
Students from Commodore Perry, Greenville, Jamestown and Reynolds high schools are eligible for the Baughman Scholarship. These scholarships are part of the more than $100 million in aid that has been awarded at Thiel College since 2009.
