Thiel College plans in-person commencement ceremonies for both 2021 and 2020 graduates

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College will host both 2020 and 2021 graduates in two in-person commencement ceremonies on May 9.

Both ceremonies will be held at Alumni Stadium. The Class of 2021 will be honored at a 10 a.m. ceremony, while the Class of 2020 will be celebrated with exercises at 3 p.m. A baccalaureate service is at 4 p.m. Saturday at Graul Amphitheater in Riverside Park near campus.

“We are so excited to be able to host in-person commencement ceremonies for our students and for the graduates from 2020,” Vice President for College Advancement Roberta Leonard said. “We appreciate the patience and flexibility from everyone as worked to find ways we could gather safely as a community to celebrate the culmination of four years of work and an important life milestone for our students.”

Frank Maenpa, Ph.D. ’69, Ruthanne Beighley, Esq. ’73 and John Hauser ’71 will be awarded honorary degrees as part of the two ceremonies.

For the health and safety of the Thiel College Community, these Commencement Exercises are being planned in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Pennsylvania Department of Health guidelines, which include reduced attendance, hygiene recommendations, social distancing and the use of masks regardless of vaccine status.

Thiel College is an independent college founded in the Lutheran tradition. Located in Greenville, Pa., the College offers 60 majors and minors, 24 varsity sports, and an 11:1 student-faculty ratio.
