GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion Anthony E. Jones, Ed.D. is hosting the latest in a series for students and employees that will focus on specific diversity topics with experts in the field.
The next group of speakers in the Courageous Tomcat Conversation Series begins at 11 a.m. Oct. 19. The online meeting will be led by Jones. The first speaker is Joselyn Parker, who will lead a conversation on being black and gay. Parker is the founder/CEO of SPEAK Project Ohio.
SPEAK Project Ohio is a nonprofit servicing Franklin County, Ohio. Its mission is to promote holistic wellness to children and families through innovative programming that focuses on positive youth development and crisis support services.
Christopher Blakely, Ed.D. will host an interactive conversation about “our lived experiences and leadership journeys” at 11 a.m. Oct. 26. He is the assistant vice president for campus life, dean of students at Florida Gulf Coast University. At Florida Gulf Coast University, Blakely has been instrumental in revamping the university’s comprehensive academic support and retention program for under-represented students. He designed programming, workshops, and retention initiatives to promote student success and instituted a first-year seminar course and a living learning community.
The final speaker in the series is Anton Treuer, Ph.D. at 11 a.m. Nov. 9. He will speak about advancing racial equity, revitalize the Ojibwe language and leverage scholarship and community service to make the world a better place. Treuer is Professor of Ojibwe at Bemidji State (Minn.) University and author of many books. He has been awarded 40-plus prestigious awards and fellowships.
