GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College veterans’ liaison Mike Mason is speaking at the Patriot Day event hosted by the Riverside Revitalization Fund for Riverside Park at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 in the William A. Passavant Memorial Center at Thiel College.
Performances will be given by Catherine Patterson, Greenville High School Marching Band and Choir, and the Thiel Tomcat Marching Pride band. The program is free and open to the public.
Mason, who is also an audio-visual coordinator at the College, spent 21 years in the U.S. Army. He was deployed to more than 40 countries and 35 states—including four combat tours in Afghanistan. Along with those tours, Mason worked at the National Military Command Center, NATO, the White House Communications Agency, and the Asymmetric Warfare Group.
Mason serves as the Reynolds VFW Senior Vice Commander.
Thiel College was recently certified as a Yellow Ribbon institution, which means the school is approved by the Federal government to provide partial or fully funded scholarships to students in the service in which their tuition or fees exceed the pre-determined GI Bill thresholds.
