GREENVILLE, Pa.-- The Thiel Tomcat Marching Pride hosted 72 high school performers for its sixth annual Thiel College Marching Band Preview Day on Nov. 14.
The event had students registered from more than 42 high schools and included participants from Pennsylvania, Ohio and Maryland. Attendees arrived Saturday, rehearsed during the morning and performed at halftime of Thiel College’s annual rivalry game with Grove City College.
The Thiel Tomcat Marching Pride (TTMP) comprises 100 members and is celebrating its sixth season. In that time, the TTMP has played at many local and regional band festivals and performed at Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
“I am so excited that we had so many outstanding musicians, colorguard members, and twirlers join us despite the drizzle and cooler temperatures on band day,” Tomcat Marching Pride Director Andy Erb, M.S., said. “It is always so exciting to see that performance come together in a short period of time, especially after months of planning. The talent, work ethic, and dedication to great performances that these students display year after year is inspiring and noteworthy. The band day tradition is one that I hope continues for years to come.”
The high school students played several pieces of music, including “Paranoid” by Black Sabbath, “Soak Up the Sun” by Sheryl Crow and the Thiel College Fight Song.
