College a participating sponsor for Girls Rock Science program at Carnegie Center

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College, a leading liberal arts college in northwest Pennsylvania, is a participating sponsor for the Girls Rock Science weekend event at the Carnegie Science Center, 1 Allegheny Avenue, Pittsburgh, on Saturday and Sunday.

The event puts young women in contact with a variety of hands-on science, technology, engineering and mathematics activities to acquaint girls with a range of STEM careers. Thiel faculty and staff will be on hand and conducting experiments. Girls who stop by the Thiel exhibit will use advanced equipment to measure just how thin a human hair is and test the limits of human hearing. This weekend-long event is designed to get girls of all ages connected with science and technology.

“Coeducational from its founding, Thiel College has been an institution of opportunity and equality for both women and men more than 150 years,” Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College Liz Frombgen, Ph.D., said. “Our participation in the Girls Rock Science program is a vibrant reminder of the College’s mission to provide an inclusive learning environment that connects students with the tools they need to be successful.”

Participation in the Girls Rock Science program is free with admission to the science center and coincides with the center’s hours.
