GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College will host Thomas Paquette’s “Itinerant Views” art show from Sept. 14 to Oct.11. A gallery talk and closing reception will be held at 3 p.m. Oct. 11.

The curated display of Paquette’s landscape painting portfolio will be installed in the Weyers-Sampson Gallery on the first floor of the Howard Miller Student Center. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

“The paintings in ‘Itinerant Views’ are from my encounters with mostly natural places from California to the French Alps, to just a drive from campus,” Paquette said. “I hope students approach the paintings and investigate them as one might investigate a nearby waterfall, as an interesting bit of our world. My highest hope is that they bring that same excitement to every place they experience in their day.”

Paquette’s landscape paintings have been shown in solo exhibitions in museums and prominent galleries across the country. He is currently working on paintings from the entire length of the Mississippi River, which will show in museums in 2018-2019.

“Thiel is fortunate to have Thomas Paquette exhibit his work in the Weyers-Sampson Gallery,” Professor of Painting and Curator of Art Sean McConnor said. “Mr. Paquette is a nationally recognized landscape painter who has been praised for his painterly surfaces and depiction of space and light.”

The Weyers-Sampson Gallery at Thiel College regularly hosts exhibitions from professional artists and student work. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays.
