GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College’s sesquicentennial Homecoming 2016 celebration kicks off with a Color Dash 5K on Sunday, Sept. 25.
The 5K is open to all runners and walkers and will be held at Riverside Park, Greenville, Pa., on Sunday. Packet pickup will be at 8 a.m. and the event will begin at 10 a.m. The Color Dash is a family-friendly, untimed run or walk for people of all ages and abilities. Participants will be provided with a white T-shirt and will be sprayed with brightly-colored powders during the race.
The event is sponsored by ILSCO Extrusions, Inc. The Color Dash donates 50 percent of the profits received to local charities. Cost is $20 per participant.
“We are excited about the addition of The Color Dash to the Homecoming schedule of events,” Director of Alumni Relations Kelly Sanzari ’13 said. “This will be a great event to promote health and wellness as we continue moving forward on the construction of a track and field facility on campus. It’s also a great way to engage the community with the College as we celebrate our sesquicentennial.”
Other celebrations in the week leading up to Homecoming include the national Thiel spirit day on Tuesday, Sept. 27. Alumni from around the region and country are encouraged to wear blue and gold or any Thiel branded clothing and post photos of their outfits to social media with the hashtag “#TC150.” On Wednesday, Sept. 26, Thiel alumni will share stories of the College’s past during Thiel History Time at the James Pedas Communication Center. Additionally, the Blue-Gold Golf Outing will be held at the Greens of Greenville from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30.
Homecoming 2016 will also include a Sesquicentennial Gala at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30. The gala celebrates 150 years of Thiel College history and includes a silent auction benefitting The Thiel Fund. The annual Homecoming parade will commence at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1 as the Thiel Tomcat Marching Pride and community partners make their way along Greenville’s Main Street to campus. This will be followed by the Homecoming football game at 3 p.m. as the Thiel College Tomcats play Washington & Jefferson College at Alumni Stadium.
