GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College is in its third year of sponsorship for the 82nd Annual Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair, an event that inspires middle and high school-age students to design, apply, and communicate their own science experiments while competing for cash prizes and scholarships.

Judging for the fair will take place via video conference on March 24 and the awards ceremony will be live-streamed on March 25. No students or judges will be on-site at Carnegie Science Center.

Science and engineering fair participants are eligible for one of four $2,000 renewable Thiel College scholarships. Applicants must be high school juniors or seniors planning to pursue a course of study in a science-related field at Thiel College with a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Students who apply must enroll at Thiel as full-time students and remain in a science-related field during all four years of their undergraduate education.

The Science Fair is designed to encourage career awareness and readiness by motivating students to apply themselves in math and science and by connecting them with professionals working in science and engineering fields. The vision of the Science Fair is to inspire students to become connected with the region’s industry to promote future economic development in Western Pennsylvania: “Introducing students to the science and technology opportunities within our region will facilitate the cultivation and retention of a tremendous resource—our youth.”
