GREENVILLE, Pa.—Tressa Snyder, M.L.S., will become the new Director of the Thiel College Langenheim Memorial Library on June 1, 2021.

The College search committee cited her passion for students and her recent work in implementing new methods for remote students to access library resources that made her the top candidate to lead the library.

“Tressa has been an exceptional advocate for students and the library as long as I’ve known her, and I look forward to seeing her realize her vision for the library,” said Associate Academic Dean for Student Success Greg Q. Butcher, Ph.D.

Snyder came to Thiel College in fall 2008 as the reference and instruction librarian. In August 2020, she was promoted to her current position as the reference librarian for information services. “My heart is with Thiel students and faculty. The library will continue to remain the academic hub of the campus while holding tight to our liberal arts educational traditions and promoting academic integrity and scholarly research,” Snyder said. “I am truly honored to be leading the library into the future, building active partnerships across campus and improving access and services to the campus community.”

Snyder has extensive experience in library science. Her previous position as the Reference and Instruction Librarian at Thiel College required her to provide students with reference services, create and teach library instruction courses, organize and promote research awards, and implement library outreach programs.
