Thiel College recognizes valedictorians, salutatorian and top scholarship winner

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Three graduates were recognized as the top students and another was awarded a top post-graduate scholarship by Thiel College recently.

Emily Groves ’21, of Greenville, Pa., and Sophia Kostoff ’21, of Akron, Ohio, were recognized as valedictorians, each graduating with a perfect 4.0 grade point average, and Bailey Marie Shepard ’21, of West Middlesex, Pa., was salutatorian.

Groves, a 2017 West Middlesex High School graduate, was a triple major. She earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in business administration and computer science and a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems. She was a member of the national mathematics honorary society and Les Lauriers, the senior honorary society based on scholarship, service and leadership.

Kostoff, a 2017 graduate of Our Lady of Elms High School, was an English major. She was belonged to the English, music and psychology honorary societies and was a member of Women Inspiring the Next Generation.

Shepard, a 2018 graduate of West Middlesex High School, was a public relations, advertising and integrated marketing communications major. She was a member of Chi Omega women’s fraternity, Women Inspiring the Next Generation, the live events club, the sophomore honorary society, the Organization of Black Collegians and was a peer mentor.

Delaney Merideth ’21, of Toronto, Ohio, was granted the Dr. Frank Baker Soar Scholarship. Merideth, a 2017 graduate of Toronto High School, was a public relations, advertising and integrated marketing major. She was a resident assistant and also a peer mentor. Merideth was a member of the senior class gift committee, Student Government Association, the live events club and the Organization of Black Collegians.

The Soar scholarship recognizes a top senior and awards them $1,000 and also makes a $1,000 donation to the charity of choice by the scholarship winner.
