GREENVILLE, Pa.—The 22nd annual Kappa Sigma See-Saw-A-Thon to raise money for the Military Heroes Campaign begins at noon Thursday, Sept. 29 and continues until noon Sunday, Oct. 2.

Members of the Kappa Sigma fraternity will be collecting donations as they ride a 25-foot-long metal seesaw on the lawn near the College’s Howard Miller Student Center for 72 consecutive hours.

“Over the past 21 years, Kappa Sigma’s See-Saw-A-Thon has become a hallmark of each fall semester here at Thiel,” Kappa Sigma Philanthropy Chair Sam Sesti ’18 said. “Looking back—especially to last year—this event brings together the Thiel College campus community and the whole Greenville community to support Kappa Sigma’s national Military Heroes Foundation. It is really powerful to see a lot of people come together to raise thousands of dollars that will be donated to organizations that advocate for and assist wounded veterans.”

Created in 2007, the Military Heroes Campaign honors and aids thousands of military veterans and their families in communities throughout the United States and Canada. Since its inception, the campaign has donated more than $1 million to non-profit organizations that advocate on behalf of servicemen and women and those wounded in combat.

Charitable service is an important part of the mission of each fraternity and sorority at Thiel College. Annually, Greek fundraising efforts donate thousands of dollars to charities such as the American Red Cross, Autism Speaks, the Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital, Adopt-A-Highway and many others.

The See-Saw-A-Thon will take place during Thiel’s Homecoming 2016 celebration. This year’s traditions include the Homecoming parade, which will commence at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1 as the Thiel Tomcat Marching Pride and community partners make their way along Greenville’s Main Street to campus. This will be followed by the Homecoming football game at 3 p.m. as the Thiel College Tomcats play Washington & Jefferson College at Alumni Stadium. Homecoming 2016 will also feature the Tomcat Kids Zone and an alumni reunions and picnics. Donations to the See-Saw-A-Thon can be made at the seesaw or online.
