Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs

Thiel College is seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant to provide high-level support to the Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA)/Dean of the College and the Associate Academic Deans.

This full-time position performs diverse and advanced tasks, is required to assist with resolution of complex administrative matters, and manage and coordinate the administrative and clerical support functions for Academic Affairs.

Education and Experience: Three-five years administrative experience, excellent computer skills, verbal/written communication, and organizational and interpersonal skills are required.  Experience working in a higher education setting and a Bachelor’s degree are preferred.  

Essential Job Functions:

Provide administrative support for the Vice President of Academic Affairs, Associate Academic Deans and Office of Academic Affairs:

  • Facilitates the efficient utilization of the VPAA’s time through coordination of a complex calendar of appointments, meetings, and events.  Assists with calendar coordination for the Associate Academic Deans.
  • Serves as a liaison between the VPAA and other College offices, members of the Board of Trustees, community members, faculty, staff, students and parents.
  • Provides administration to and/or manage projects, short-term and long-term planning, and initiatives; both ongoing and ad hoc.

Coordination of Academic Affairs Operations:

  • Proactively assists with all administrative and operational matters within (and from) Academic Affairs, including, but not limited to tracking of personnel actions; performance reviews; and scheduling of events and standing meetings.
  • Safeguards the confidentiality of College Administration by exercising discretion in communicating information to faculty, staff and students in handling administrative records, files and similar confidential items.
  • Provides administrative support to the Academic Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees.
  • Provide assistance to the President in the absence of the Executive Assistant to the President.
