Assistant Professor of Education

Thiel College seeks a vibrant full-time education professor to teach undergraduate education courses in middle grade or high school education. The primary responsibilities will include teaching, supervision of students in the field in a variety of academic disciplines, student advising, participation in departmental and college-wide committee work, and student recruitment and retention. Required Qualifications: Strong knowledge base and certification in middle/high school or high school principal and evidence-based practices in content-area instruction. A minimum of a master’s degree in education is required, doctorate preferred. Other preferred qualifications include research, teaching, and/or service.  Candidates with experience in diverse settings and/or urban education, or experience advocating for social justice, diversity, equity and inclusion are encouraged to apply.

A dedicated passion for helping students reach their full potential in a supportive and inclusive diverse environment is essential to this position. Responsibilities include program leadership, teaching, advising, and professional development. The successful candidate will possess the ability to teach courses with an applied focus that emphasizes experiential learning. Teaching assignments may include foundational and upper-level courses within the Education Department curriculum and courses in the candidate’s specialty area. The position would focus on undergraduate level teaching. While Thiel College gives highest priority to teaching effectiveness, the professor will be expected to remain current in the field through professional development opportunities such as attendance at related conferences, research, or other scholarly activities.
