Instructional Technologist

Thiel College is seeking a full-time, Instructional Technologist.  This position will provide support for the ever-changing instructional media needs of the campus community, focusing on supporting faculty and students.

A Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Distance Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology/Instructional Technology, Education or related field from a regionally accredited institution is required.

The successful candidate will:

  • Collaborate with discipline-specific SMEs in developing course content, course outlines, assessments, activities, and multimedia for new and existing courses, and ensure that quality standards are maintained during design, development, and revision of courses.
  • Work directly with faculty and students to troubleshoot and resolve issues with the learning management system (Moodle).
  • Analyze usability of software and other educational technology that enhances a student-centered approach; make recommendations for instructional solutions based on a firm knowledge of a variety of online pedagogical strategies and teaching tools. 
  • Be well-versed in Bloom’s Taxonomy, educational pedagogy, grading rubrics, ADDIE model, and Quality Matters rubrics. 
  • Have good communication/organizational/interpersonal skills in order to effectively collaborate in a team-based, deadline driven environment.
  • Serve as liaison between the College, our textbook adoption partner (eCampus), and other third-party providers. 
  • Provide professional development workshops for faculty and staff.
  • May be requested to teach up to six credits annually of introductory coursework in a relevant area (for example, basic word processing, spreadsheets, etc.).
