The Ruth A. Miller Senior Seminar provides an opportunity for students to meet and interact with alumni and friends who have enjoyed distinguished careers in the corporate, non-profit, and government spheres. Special emphasis is placed on developing and refining business etiquette, interviewing, and networking skills.
Each seminar begins with dinner at 6:30 p.m. in the Sawhill-Georgian Room in the Howard Miller Center. After dinner, the program begins at 7:30 p.m. with a presentation of approximately 30-45 minutes, followed by questions from students, faculty and other guests.
The Ruth A. Miller Senior Seminar class (BADM 474) is open to juniors and seniors with a major in the Department of Business Administration and Accounting, and to other majors with the approval of the instructor. The seminar format is an integrative process which assists students in forming a personal style of management and leadership, based in part on input from successful business professionals.
Success does not happen by accident; a significant amount of planning, communication and coordination needs to occur to make this class work effectively. I am especially appreciative and grateful for the efforts, contributions, and support of College Advancement, President Susan Traverso, Ph.D. and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College Greg Q. Butcher, Ph.D., Monica Adametz, AVI, Dominick DiRienzo M.A.β22, Liza Schaef and Libbi Brown (who worked with the students to create and/or refine their LinkedIn profiles. This was a key component of the networking component of the course), Allie Walsh β24 (event planner extraordinaire), Jacob Frantz β23 MBAβ25 (IT support specialist extraordinaire), Dr. Ruth A. Miller Hβ20, our guests from across campus, the students in the class, and, most importantly, our speakers. Thanks to all - it was a great semester! Prof. Gary Witosky β79
