GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College senior Ronnell Hunt, of New Castle, Pa., was honored by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting Society (IBS) as one of the top five student radio station managers in the country. He was joined by seven other Thiel television and radio students at the IBS’s largest conference of the year in New York City.

The March 6-8 event featured more than 150 speakers, 100 sessions and tours, and more than 1,400 U.S. and international attendees. Hunt, a 2011 Union Area High School graduate, received a Golden Mic finalist trophy for being one of the top five student station managers out of more than 200 applicants.

WXTC Supervisor Peg Watts and TCTV Supervisor Mike McElroy joined students at the conference. TCTV is the College’s television station and WXTC is the campus radio station. Attendees went to lectures and watched demonstrations with the latest broadcasting technology.
